Philip Krayna, CEO and Chief Creative Officer

Philip began his career in New York City working with renowned publication designer Roger Black, contributing to the production of Esquire, Time, and Smart Money magazines. He later worked as an assistant photo editor at Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, he held roles as a senior designer at Mother Jones and as an art director at Bank of America before before establishing his own independent studio.

His involvement in design is wide-ranging. In addition to teaching classes in typography and design theory at California College of the Arts, University of Santa Cruz, and San Francisco Center for the Book, he is currently a senior lecturer in the design department at San Jose State University. Philip writes frequently about influential creatives and design trends for major industry periodicals, including Communication Arts, Print and Metropolis.

Recently, his design work was added to the permanent collection of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Philip holds a J.D. degree with a certificate of specialization. Blending analytical thinking with creative practice, he is guided by a central question: how can society reconcile its constant drive for progress with the imperative to design a more sustainable future?
